The Bensadoun School of Retail Management (BSRM) is a specialized academic unit within the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University. The School plays a leading role in advancing education and dialogue around retail management through its programs, events, and partnerships.
To support these efforts, BSRM is seeking a creative and motivated Communications Assistant to work closely with the Senior Marketing Officer on content creation, digital communication, and marketing operations.
The Role
In this role, you will join a talented and dynamic team and contribute to key marketing and communication priorities at BSRM. You will support the development and execution of marketing initiatives across the School’s digital platforms and play an active role in creating clear and engaging content.The position offers hands‑on exposure to digital marketing, social media strategy, website content, analytics, and institutional communications, while contributing to the visibility and coherence of the School’s messaging.You will collaborate closely with the Senior Marketing Officer on the planning and execution of content and social media initiatives, helping to strengthen BSRM’s online presence and ensure consistency across communication channels. This role provides an opportunity to apply creativity, content development skills, and digital communication tools in support of the School’s programs, events, and activities.Key Responsibilities:
· Contribute to the development and implementation of BSRM’s content strategy across channels.
· Create, write, and edit clear and engaging content for the website, social media, and email communications.
· Adapt content to different audiences while ensuring consistency of tone and messaging.
· Support the refresh and ongoing improvement of BSRM’s website, including content updates, structure, and clarity of information.
· Assist in ensuring that website content is accurate, up to date, and aligned with institutional objectives.
· Participate in the planning, scheduling, and publishing of content according to an editorial calendar.
· Collaborate on social media and digital communication initiatives to enhance visibility and engagement.
· Contribute to the execution of communication campaigns related to programs, events, and initiatives.
- Assist in the production of performance reports for the various social platforms and campaigns and make recommendations to improve performance.
- Optimize content on BSRM’s website and distribution mediums.
- Support in the production of BSRM’s email communications.
· Proven experience in managing social media platforms for a brand, with a strong portfolio showcasing content creation skills.
· Proficiency in social media management tools and analytics platforms.
· Ability to generate creative campaigns and ideas to reach our target audiences.
· Excellent written communication skills with an eye for detail and creativity.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
· Basic graphic design and photo/video editing skills are a plus.Other Qualifying Skills
Ability to prioritize and multi-task; strong organizational skills, reliable, self-motivated with an ability to work autonomously and with others in a team. Must be client-focused and service-oriented; strong desire to work in an entrepreneurial educational environment.
