In this role you will be responsible for a range of projects focused on the delivery of infrastructure projects in southern Alberta. What you’ll do:
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver project objectives from concept to design to construction to as-built submissions.
  • Working with the Engineer of Record, project engineers and civil engineering technologists to produce drawings and measure quantities for designs, technical reports, cost estimates, technical specifications and construction contract documents for municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Transporting and using topographic survey data, survey field notes and engineering designs.
  • Designing 3D alignments, surfaces, profiles and pipe networks using multiple data sets to assist engineers with analysis of proposed designs.
  • Creating base plan drawings using field notes/client data.
  • Performing Quality Assurance and Quality Control reviews for other civil engineering technologists on different projects.
  • Assisting in developing new standards and process for the design team.
Does this sound like you?
  • A Diploma in Civil Engineering or Engineering Design and Drafting from an accredited technical institution.
  • Demonstrated experience in projects including site grading, site servicing, deep and shallow utilities, erosion and sediment control.
  • Experience in designing large diameter water transmission pipes and civil site servicing for water transmission facilities (i.e., treatment plants, pump stations) is an asset.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration with ASET.
  • 3+ years experience in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Navisworks relative to civil surface or underground projects.
  • Ability to complete work using pre-determined CAD standards and templates. Experience with the latest City of Calgary CAD standards for Block Profiles and City online will be an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS office software applications such as Word and Excel.
  • Takes initiative to work with the project team to understand and manage project risks, deliverables and schedule.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Committed team player and the ability to work independently.
