OVERVIEWThe Project Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, structuring, and successfully delivering project opportunities in the renewable energy sector in order to achieve the company’s strategic objectives. The position reports to the Senior Director, Project Development.In this role, the incumbent will lead and manage all stages of business opportunity development for projects valued at up to $1 billion. Responsibilities include leading prospecting efforts; analyzing and selecting renewable energy projects; managing a multidisciplinary project team of several dozen professionals; analyzing requests for proposals (RFPs); preparing and presenting business plans; structuring, negotiating, and closing multi‑million‑dollar agreements required to advance business opportunities. The Project Development Manager will also represent projects with partners and key stakeholders.RESPONSIBILITIESLead, organize, and be accountable for the success of analyses related to key elements affecting project viability, including:Prospecting and identification of project opportunities;Environmental considerations related to site wildlife and vegetation;Municipal, provincial, and U.S. state permitting requirements;Comparison of various generation technologies and alignment of proposed solutions with site‑specific characteristics;Resource analysis and determination of site capacity;Legal agreements with public and private landowners;Layout planning for generation equipment, access roads, and collection systems;Interconnection between the project and the electricity transmission network;Research on electricity markets and power supply agreements with electricity providers across North America.Analyze requests for proposals and other business opportunities, coordinate bid preparation, and ensure competitiveness of submissions.Develop schedules to track project progress.Develop, analyze, and ensure compliance with budgets associated with various development activities (approximately $10M per project) for projects valued at up to $1 billion.Lead meetings and manage the activities and tasks of multidisciplinary project teams.Organize and manage internal communications required for approval of the various project development stages.Organize and manage communications with stakeholders, project partners, and investor partners.REQUIREMENTS
  • Engineering degree (mechanical, civil, electrical, construction, or mining) or other relevant university degree;
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management related to renewable energy;
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Project);
  • Solid understanding of regulatory permitting processes and interconnection rights with Canadian local authorities;
Experience with CAD, mapping, and resource analysis software is considered an asset.LANGUAGE
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is considered an asset.
Knowledge of English is required for this specific position as Kruger deals with partners across North America and the successful candidate will be required to communicate frequently with them.
