  • The PEM will work on Pre-Feasibility, Feasibility, FEED and Detailed engineering phases where there is substantial multidiscipline engineering scope.
  • The PEM will provide the leadership required and support MMM project delivery teams to drive the engineering objectives of the project.
  • This candidate will report to the Director of Engineering and is based out of the Worley office in Markham, Ontario.
  • To develop, execute, supervise, and coordinate all technical aspects of the work safely with primary focus on the integrity/quality of the engineering design while achieving schedule and budget objectives.
  • Acts as a key technical interface with the client.
Responsibilities:Health, Safety & Environment
  • Works with Project/Portfolio leadership team to ensure that all projects are set up and executed in full compliance with the requirements of Worley HSE Management system.
  • Demonstrates a visible and active commitment to Life.
Engineering Execution
  • Plans and coordinates multi-discipline engineering design assignments within and across disciplines, including multidiscipline technical issues and single discipline technical issues that have the potential to impact overall project progress.
  • Plans and manages engineering and design systems implementation, technical specifications, standard drawings standard setup of models etc. and data management systems.
  • Ensures that engineering activities undertaken on the project are in compliance with relevant codes and standards, Worley’s Management and Knowledge System documentation and client requirements as defined in the Basis of Design (BoD) and Project Execution Plan (PEP).
  • Ensures the BoD and technical scope is adequately documented and changes are managed.
  • Prepares Engineering (SEAL) Plan and change management plan, including application of Safe and Sustainable Engineering.
  • Ensures the requirements of the Engineering SEAL Plan are adhered to by the Technical Team.
  • Applies specific SEAL requirements including:
  • Coordination of client alignment with SEAL.
  • Definition and planning for the application of SEAL (through the Engineering [SEAL] Plan)
  • Facilitation of engineering team execution of the plan.
  • Verification of compliance with the plan.
  • Ensures the best efficiency in execution by promoting the use of new digital tools/technologies within projects. The engineering systems used on the project are compliant with Global directives, are appropriate to the complexity and nature of the task and are used efficiently.
  • Ensures technical integrity and safety are not being compromised to meet the schedule & the design meets or exceeds engineering standards with regard to quality, cost, safety and performance.
  • The design can be safely constructed, operated, maintained, decommissioned, and abandoned or demolished.
  • Ensures “Holds” and areas of uncertainty are highlighted and addressed.
  • Promotes and adapt the Data Centric project delivery, where possible.
  • Promotes collaboration with other functional groups and project stakeholders.
Change Management
  • Ensures scope changes are identified and management of change processes are adhered to.
Peer Reviews
  • Plan the Technical Peer reviews on the Project/Portfolio in accordance with Technical Stewardship Standard and consultation with Director of Engineering.
  • Ensures Technical Peer Reviews are being conducted in accordance with the Worley Technical Stewardship Standard.
  • Identifies and implements additional project technical peer reviews as necessary for the project.
Quality
  • Through the Lead Discipline Engineers, ensures quality objectives are met.
  • Ensures the project team is working within the provisions and guidelines of Management and Knowledge System.
  • Ensures appropriate design checks are undertaken and competent people are conducting checking activities.
  • Ensures Quality Audit findings on the project relating to Engineering are addressed and findings and Action Requests are closed.
Planning/Resourcing
  • Coordinates technical input to schedule development and approves technical component.
  • Reviews discipline time estimates and consolidates into an overall engineering estimate or change request.
  • Support the development of GID/workshare plan for the Project/Portfolio and implement as required with discipline leads.
  • Assists project management in controlling and monitoring engineering performance against budget and schedule.
  • Coordinates with the Discipline Managers to secure necessary project resources.
Technical Competency and Skill
  • Ensures the individual and collective Technical team competency/skills are appropriate.
  • Organizes technical and work process training to address deficiencies.
Document and Data Management
  • Defines internal project data management requirements (internally developed and supplier developed).
  • Ensures technical data is managed in accordance with internal project and client requirements.
  • Ensures appropriate Worley approved document management systems and work processes are utilized.
Workshare/GID
  • Defines Workshare/GID technical scope.
  • Oversees the technical quality of shared work.
  • Ensures the Workshare/GID office interface is managed appropriately.
Confidentiality and Intellectual Property
  • Ensures the integrity of all intellectual property including that owned by Worley and that used by Worley under agreed terms with the owner/provider of the information.
  • Maintains confidentiality requirements on the project.
QualificationsWhat you will bringTechnical and Industry Experience:
  • 15+ years mining or related industry experience
  • Strong understanding of multi-discipline engineering delivery
  • Experienced in Mining essentials, preferable underground mining
  • Detailed knowledge of the application of relevant Management and Knowledge System Engineering processes
  • Supervision and leadership skills (management/leadership experience, ability to direct and influence a team, exceptional performance with regards to all aspects of communication, proven ability to delegate work, good judgment and ability to make good decisions, ability to mentor and steward individuals, effectively deliver performance feedback).
  • Planning / Analysis / Coordination skills and experience (analyze existing systems/procedures and recommend solutions and lead improvement strategies, prioritization of work, coordinate change, implement procedures / procedural change, follows up on planned work and changes).
  • Well-rounded understanding of all engineering disciplines (knows the industry, has a good understanding of Worley systems and work processes, works well with others, proven focus on execution, strong commitment to quality and safety).
  • Competent in Microsoft suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft SharePoint and Teams.
  • Working knowledge on 3D model navigating tool such as Navisworks is required.
  • Demonstrates awareness of and commitment to health, safety and environment issues and actions to address these issues; takes action to ensure zero harm to all employees, clients and contractors with zero environmental incidents.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:Required:
  • Recognized Engineering degree (or equivalent)
Preferred:
  • Current P.Eng. registration with PEO, or registered P.Eng. in another Canadian Province or Territory and eligible for registration with PEO.
