
Senior Reactor Analysis Engineer

- Join team to complete the design analysis of CANDU reactor systems, structures and components, including mechanical equipment.
- Perform engineering calculations to support design nuclear pressure boundary components.
- Prepare formal technical reports suitable for review of the client and their regulatory authorities.
- Review design documents, calculations, and analysis reports.
- Perform engineering work following AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy QA programs, and applicable codes, standards, and regulation requirements.
- Model complex vessel and equipment arrangements using finite element techniques.
- Prepare engineering computations and analyses using applicable software (e.g., ANSYS Mechanical (APDL preferred or Workbench), and LSDYNA. etc.).
- Performing thermal, fatigue, seismic, linear and non-linear analyses in accordance with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Section III, Div.1 code requirements.
- Prepare TSSA registration packages for pressure boundary modifications.
- May be requested by Engineering Manager to lead technical packages with a small or large team of Designers and Stress Analysts.
- Provide prompt response and engineering resolutions on any critical engineering related matters.
- Complete the assigned scopes or tasks within the given budget and schedule, and in good quality.

- A Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from a university of recognized standing.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is preferred.
- Minimum 5 Years of related work experience in mechanical engineering within a heavy industrial environment such as: nuclear, mining, oil & gas, power, etc.
- Design engineering experience in nuclear class 1, 2, 3 vessels and/or equipment for Nuclear Power Plants is preferable.
- Experience in Stress Analysis using ANSYS Mechanical (APDL preferred over Workbench), LSDYNA, ABAQUS, MATLAB, MathCAD, or other similar software programs are required.
- Must have knowledge of mechanical and piping systems or equipment (knowledge of CANDU design, including the Calandria Vessel and fuel channels would be preferred).
- Working knowledge of CSA N285.0, N289, B51 and ASME Section III codes and any other applicable standards or regulatory guides related to permanent plant components, pressure boundary equipment, and/or reactor systems is preferred.
- Qualified or eligible to be qualified as ASME Appendix XXIII is an asset.
- Must be able to apply technical principles in a logical and practical manner to resolve engineering issues or technical problems.
- Site experience in construction, or commissioning of plant mechanical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries would be an asset.
- Must be willing to become a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW), although this will not be a regular requirement as part of the job.
- Must have excellent communication and technical writing skills.
