- Oversee and process the complete payroll cycle for a high-volume, multi-provincial workforce on a bi-weekly schedule, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Support payroll operations for approximately 1,200 employees across multiple locations, managing both hourly and salaried staff.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian payroll regulations, including taxable benefits, vacation pay, statutory pay, and severance calculations.
- Administer employee benefit plans, ensuring accurate deductions and taxable benefit setups in the ADP Workforce Now system.
- Handle year-end activities such as T4 preparation, ROE issuance, and other reporting requirements.
- Maintain and update employee records, including wage levels and base rates, while adhering to confidentiality standards.
- Collaborate with government agencies and manage workers' compensation-related tasks and reporting.
- Generate and analyze standard and complex payroll reports, providing insights as needed.
- Respond promptly to payroll and benefits inquiries from employees, offering clear and thorough support.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and government regulations related to payroll and benefits.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of Canadian payroll experience, with a strong focus on customer service.
- Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now payroll system is required.
- Certification as a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) is considered an asset.
- Comprehensive knowledge of provincial employment standards and payroll legislation.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated expertise in payroll processes within a unionized environment.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with employees and external agencies.
