- Under the direction of the Vice President of Institutional Affairs and Corporate Communications - Ferrero Canada, build and maintain relationships with federal government stakeholders including MPs, political staff, departmental officials and regulatory bodies on interests important to Ferrero Canada and in support of the business' government relations strategy.
- Serve as a company representative by liaising with federal and/or provincial departments responsible for agrifood, economic development, health and nutrition, sustainability, finance and trade, to protect and promote the interests of the company and develop and maintain public trust.
- Support relationship building with confectionery and sweet packaged food industry colleagues; as well as general business groups, trade alliances and third-party organizations.
- Monitor and analyze federal policies, legislation, regulations and issues related to food and the general business environment in Canada that impact Ferrero, becoming an internal subject matter expert.
- Develop and deliver regular briefings on federal government activities including political dynamics, key policy updates and current events to ensure internal stakeholders are well informed.
- Prepare briefing materials, reports, and presentations for meetings with government representatives and industry groups, including support for Executive level engagement opportunities.
- Serve as a Ferrero representative on relevant trade association committees and identify opportunities to attend conferences, speak on panels, and events to build thought leadership. Identify Board opportunities as appropriate.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, political science, and international affairs required. Advanced degree preferred.
- 5 - 7 years of experience as political staff, department/agency staff or in a trade association or corporate government relations role; consumer packaged goods industry experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the federal political system as well as legislative and regulatory process in Canada and navigating the complexities of challenging files and issues.
- Good understanding of the key issues impacting the food industry, including but not limited to health and nutrition, trade, tax, plastics and packaging, and manufacturing.
- A confident advocate who can build rapport and engage collaboratively with international, federal, provincial and local public officials and staff.
- Strong public speaking skills, and an ability to clearly articulate Ferrero's position on specific topics; an ability to influence persuasively at all levels.
- Ability to write well-organized, clear and compelling policy documents, advocacy pieces, background papers, briefing books, consultation responses, and talking points.
- Ability to speak French is an asset.
- Occasional travel to Toronto required.
