Brief Description:Our employer is a Jewish day school. They are looking for an enthusiastic senior division Language & Social Studies teacher to join our dynamic educational team to cover a paternity leave. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering lessons based on the Ontario curriculum for students in Grades 6–7. This role will include teaching and assessment strategies that infuse UDL and differentiated instruction methods, and provide accommodations to support individual student profiles.Job Function:Curriculum Development and Implementation
- Implement a comprehensive program that aligns with the Ontario Curriculum
- Deliver comprehensive lessons in Language and Social Studies (History and Geography) aligned with the Ontario Curriculum for Grades 6-8.
- Facilitate engaging and developmentally-appropriate learning experiences for all students
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
- Foster a love for learning through creative and interactive activities
- Design and administer a variety of assessment tools
- Provide individualized support and feedback to help each child reach their full potential
- Collaborate with support staff to address the diverse needs of students
- Write student report cards
- Create a positive, safe classroom environment that promotes respect and cooperation
- Implement effective and developmentally appropriate classroom management strategies to maintain a productive learning atmosphere
- Manage classroom behaviour in accordance with school policies
- Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and fellow teachers and administration
- Participate in Parent Teacher Conferences and school meetings
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience
Job Requirement:Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education
- Ontario College of Teachers Certification (OCT)
- Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada and authorized to work in childcare and primary/secondary school teaching occupations.
- Experience in integrating technology intentionally into the learning environment
- Strong interest in numeracy and cross-curricular application
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Energetic and passionate about fostering a love for learning in children
