- Financial Strategy: Collaborate with the CFO to develop and execute the company's financial strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, providing financial guidance to various departments and monitoring financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses to senior management and external stakeholders.
- Cash Management: Oversee cash flow management, working capital, and financing strategies to optimize liquidity and support growth initiatives.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
- Financial Compliance: Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax laws.
- Property Transactions: Record all sales, purchases, financing, and refinancing transactions in Yardi, maintaining accurate property records.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and professionalism.
- Ad-hoc Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by the CFO and senior leadership.
- 7 to 10 years of progressive real estate accounting experience in a leadership finance/accounting function.
- Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role within the real estate property management industry.
- CPA designation (non-CGA) with tax experience.
- Excellent knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, tax laws, and treasury functions.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to drive results and make data-driven decisions.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French, with excellent English writing and presentation skills.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes, chart of accounts, and GST/QST experience.
- Creative, strategic approach to problem resolution.
- Proficiency in Yardi (considered a strong asset).
- Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
- Experience using Caseware or similar financial software.
- Familiarity with mortgage transactions and related accounting.
- Knowledge in equity investments, joint ventures, and partnerships.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
