Our client is a Canadian company specializing in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of consumer products related to travel and accessories.Operating nationwide, the company collaborates with several retailers and stands out for its operational expertise, product quality, and ability to meet the needs of a diverse customer base.The Import Operations Manager oversees and optimizes the entire import process, from sample requests through to production completion and transition to logistics.Reporting to the Vice President, Import, this individual ensures adherence to timelines, data accuracy, documentation compliance, and effective coordination between internal teams and international partners.Key ResponsibilitiesImport Operations Management
- Oversee the full sample-to-production cycle while respecting timelines, milestones, and documentation requirements.
- Ensure a smooth transition to logistics with complete documentation.
- Anticipate risks or delays and collaborate with internal teams and international partners to resolve them.
- Maintain a high level of data accuracy and rigor.
- Plan and track development and production timelines with Product, Design, Marketing, Sales, Compliance, QC, Planning, and Logistics teams.
- Validate timelines provided by factories and the CRO office.
- Monitor samples, testing, audits, packaging, and production milestones.
- Communicate any changes or risks promptly to stakeholders.
- Review factory quotes and ensure their accuracy.
- Ensure internal files are updated prior to approval.
- Confirm availability of all necessary information for item creation.
- Prepare and submit final quotes for validation.
- Oversee purchase order creation in JDE.
- Ensure ETDs, ETAs, and key data are updated in systems.
- Verify shipping bookings in ACS and correct discrepancies.
- Collaborate with Finance and Logistics teams to ensure efficient documentation flow.
- Contribute to improving processes, tools, and tracking dashboards, particularly on Monday.com.
- Coordinate communication between internal teams, factories, and the CRO office.
- Ensure proper transmission of information related to packaging, labeling, POP materials, and testing.
- Participate in initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency.
- College or university degree in administration, supply chain, or equivalent experience.
- 5 to 8 years of experience in import operations, procurement, or product operations.
- Experience working with overseas factories and cross-functional teams.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel.
- Experience with an ERP such as JDE (an asset).
- Experience with project management tools such as Monday.com.
- Good understanding of the sample-to-production cycle and import documentation.
- High level of rigor and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and prioritization skills.
- Ability to manage multiple timelines simultaneously.
- Clear communication and collaborative mindset.
- Proactive attitude and commitment to continuous improvement.
