- Design, estimate, and plan jobs which includes preparing bills of materials, various projects
- Prepare and oversee overhead and underground construction contracts
- Assist in the preparation of capital budget proposals
- Prepare technical reports including but not limited to, voltage drop/line losses calculations, fault current analysis and protection coordination, power quality analysis, pole loading analysis, line tensions, and cable pulling calculations
- Assist with any design clarifications, or recommendations
- Consult with customers and stakeholders regarding inquiries for existing and or proposed infrastructure, and incorporate feedback into the planning process
- Investigate, review, develop, communicate, and enforce installation standards and materials specification
- Maintain related field and office engineering records
- Administer the subdivision design process along with material approvals for developer-designed, and construction subdivisions
- Liaise with Municipal/Government bodies (Town of Oakville, Halton Region, and MTO), developer's consultants for design, estimating, and planning purposes, and/or for required permits approvals
- Review Third-Party Overhead Attachment Permits and Plant Design/Construction
- Other duties assigned by supervisor
- Completion of a 3-year Electrical Engineering Technology program at a recognized post-secondary institution with a degree/diploma
- Registered as a Certified Engineering Technologist with O.A.C.E.T.T. (or be eligible for registration)
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in overhead and underground distribution system design, planning, budgeting, and construction contract administration
- Extensive use and strong knowledge of design work and project management
- Sound knowledge and understanding of electrical theory, and familiarity with power system operations, practices, and installation standards
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft office programs, and related computer software applications
- Experience in safety as it relates to design and job planning
- Valid Class 'G' Ontario Driver's Licence with an excellent driving record
- Effective communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)
