The Counsellors respect health and safety procedures and are interested in developing their leadership skills.Why join Camp STEAM?Monday to Friday work schedule – weekends off!Daytime work hoursCanada Day and Civic Holiday OffFun work environment and culture while working with childrenCareer pathing – get experience in the STEAM fieldsFuture OpportunitiesRewards and RecognitionMultiple locations to choose from; for a full list of our sites please visit .ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of a Counsellor include but are not limited to:Report to the Camp Leaders and participate in weekly mentorship sessions to support skill development and career growthFacilitate hands-on, problem-based activities for campers, guiding teams through experimentation, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.Incorporate technology and digital skill-building opportunities (coding, robotics, foundational AI skills)Support activity setup, transitions, and rotations across groupsCreate a fun, safe, and engaging atmosphere for campersModel appropriate behaviour and positive interactionsEngage with each camper individually and ensure fair treatment for allProvide guidance and mentorship to CITs and peers on activity facilitation and STEAM/digital skillsFollow health, safety, and campsite cleaning procedures, including WHMIS, hazard checks and emergency protocols.Carry out other reasonable duties requested by the Camp Coordinator, Program Coordinator, or Management TeamNote: Candidates applying for any position with Camp STEAM must have a valid certificate in Standard First Aid with CPR-C from a reputable provider of first aid training as recognized by WSIB / WCB / WorkSafe BC, as well as a Police Check in the Vulnerable Sector that was issued no earlier than August 28, 2025.Successful Candidates Should Possess:Working towards a high school diploma or enrolled at a post-secondary institution1 year experience working with childrenKnowledge and understanding of STEAM related topicsInspirational and creative thinking skillsCustomer service-oriented mindsetTeamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to take initiativeStrong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to adapt to changeThe ability to anticipate problems and opportunities, and develop effective solutionsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills Must be able to commute to workplace locationThis position may be funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons to be eligible.What to ExpectAlthough our camp season runs in July and August, we are looking for Summer Camp Counsellors to begin training in late June 2026.
