Job DescriptionAltaGas - Senior Environment AdvisorProvide technical support and regulatory guidance on environmental issues within Midstream in the US and Canada. Support and ensure Environmental compliance within Midstream business.You Will:Provide technical support and regulatory guidance on environmental issues in the Canadian and US midstream business unitsMonitor environment regulatory and policy changes in the US and Canada; support evaluation and communication of impacts to the business; support the development of tools that embed and sustain the changes to the business processesProvide oversight on environmental risk management and reportingSupport internal assurance plans, as requiredSupport the communication of operational and regulatory developments to impacted stakeholders, as requiredSupport the EHS function to promote vision to operationsCreate and ensure environmental work plans and annual goals/targets are on trackProvide regulatory support to Midstream regarding permitting of air, noise, land and waterManage and/or support the environmental obligations at Midstream facilities in the US and Canada, including annual groundwater sampling, annual surface water sampling, waste management, annual soil sampling, annual waste discharge and annual water runoff reporting. This includes management of contractors, scoping of annual monitoring and working with plant operations to vet contractor work plansLead completion of the EPEA renewals and BC waste discharge permits.Support Operations and EHS personnel with expert guidance during spill response activities and completion of applicable regulatory reporting for releasesLiaise with the Corporate Emissions Specialist as it relates to supporting Midstream compliance and implementation of emissions related work across the Midstream Business.Support with general regulatory support as it relates to AER, BCER, Alberta Climate Change Office, ECCC, Alberta Environment and Protected Areas and other regulatory bodies at the provincial and federal levels.Support management and development of Environment (ENV) program within the Operating Management System (OMS)You Have:5+ Years of practical experience in an environmental roleEnvironmental Project/Program Management backgroundExperience working within the Midstream sector would be considered an assetGood understanding of AER Directives, BCER, EPEA, Pipeline Act and Water ActEnvironmental management system experience (managing, maintaining, improving)Understanding of environmental compliance requirementsGood relationships with the regulators in each jurisdictionA degree or technical diploma in environment discipline or equivalent preferredAccreditation in a related professional discipline requiredWhy work at AltaGas?AltaGas is a North American energy infrastructure company with a focus on owning and operating assets that provide clean and affordable energy to our customers.
