We’ve got what you’re looking for.Job Description:Parsons is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in their Markham office in Ontario to join the civil infrastructure group to be part of team working on projects of Roadways, Bridges, Transitways, Municipal and/or County arterial roads, side streets, multi-use pathways, parking facilities, etc.ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Experience in Roadway Lighting Design and Traffic Signal Design is a must. Preference is given to the Province of Ontario’s Street Lighting and/or Traffic Signal Design experience.
  • As a Senior Engineer, lead the electrical project team and attend project meetings.
  • Mentor the Junior Electrical team members in the Electrical design process.
  • Perform lighting calculations (AGI software knowledge desired), loading calculations, short circuit calculations, voltage drop calculations, and Arc Flash Analysis calculations
  • Ministry of Transportation, Ontario’s work experience is desired
  • Generate/Review one-line diagrams, traffic signals, roadway lighting wiring diagrams, and electrical details.
  • Write and edit project construction specifications.
  • Review shop drawings, equipment submittals, perform site observations, and punch lists
  • Coordinate on-site with the electrical contractor Perform field inspections and provide professional field support as necessary during construction phases.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering and 8-12 years of related work experience.
  • Proficient in the utilization of current electrical engineering theories and practices.
  • Professional Engineer registration is a must.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
  • Potential to perform in an engineering team, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations are desired.
  • Experience on MTO and other municipal agencies of Ontario is desired.
  • Must be proficient in use of Lighting Design Software AGI32.
  • Must be proficient in doing Voltage Drop Calculations, short circuit calculations and arc flash analysis calculations.
  • Strong background in AutoCAD, MicroStation and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is desired.
