Join our team, and help recognize a healthy future for your career and for all Canadians.Why this role is important?Front Store Financial PlannerOverview:Reporting directly to the Sr Director, Financial Planning and Forecasting the incumbent will work alongside and directly with the Business Unit team to support in analyzing all facets of the category. This would include mix analysis of categories, promotions, brands, and as to how they are impacting sales, margin, and vendor income. In doing so, the Planner will manage reports and tools to aide in understanding actual performance and measurements vs prior year, vs forecast and vs budget. This will be ultimately utilized to help make decisions on impacting future performance and forecasts.Primary Responsibilities:
- The Planner will be the key linkage between to the Planning and Forecasting department and the Category Business Unit Teams working directly with VPs, Directors, Managers, and Analysts/Assistants
- Manages performance reports, and analyzes results to bring insights on performance gaps vs. expectations to the business unit team.
- Analyzes future promo and non-promo forecasts by category with the business unit team to identify risks and opportunities with consideration to recent performance trends and assists in any required re-forecasts.
- Key support and resource during period reviews and regular budget planning cycle for the following year.
- Support additional information and day-to-day reporting when more in-depth analyses are required.
- Provides expert advice, on Microstrategy & Power BI to ensure application is utilized to the fullest extent.
- Leverages knowledge of data structures and models to develop & enhance reporting systems to meet user requirements and increase efficiencies.
- Collaborates with IT as necessary to ensure data availability, integrity and accuracy.
- Demonstrated computer and analytical skills to produce and interpret effective spreadsheets, reports, documents and presentations, as required.
- Ability to manage, manipulate and analyze data in order to identify and quantify business opportunities.
- Advanced skills in MSExcel, MSPower BI, MSAccess, SQL, or similar relational databases required.
- Self-starter: demonstrated initiative and problem solving skills and willingness to learn.
- Provides solutions by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required.
- Business acumen.
- Adaptable to set and prioritize work with varying exceptions. Able to work with diverse personalities and styles.
- Communicates with clarity, both verbally and in writing.
- Post secondary education equivalent to a university degree in business, statistics, or engineering.
- Ideally some work experience in an analytical (including consulting and banking), or retail setting.
- 3-5 years business/financial planning and/or equivalent experience
- Previous experience in a retail environment is an asset
- Post secondary education equivalent to a college diploma in business, computers or equivalent.
