
Construction Inspector - Infrastructure Field Services

- Job Description
- Engineering site inspection on water and wastewater construction projects for quality control and adherence with applicable provincial standards, engineering design and technical specifications.
- Document construction site activities (keeping a detailed daily report log, taking photos, performing survey checks, and recording as-built conditions) and identify and monitor deficiencies.
- Provide problem resolution and field solutions with respect to unforeseen construction issues and participate in construction progress meetings.
- Arrange on-site geotechnical investigations and material testing (for concrete, granular materials, and asphalt) and coordinate with Engineering for specialist inspections.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act on construction sites; ensure proper Ministry and project procedures are followed to ensure public/pedestrian safety.
- Liaise with clients, regulatory inspectors, various utility companies, residents, and other stakeholders as required
- Profile
- Technical degree or diploma in a related field.
- Experience in water or wastewater treatment or pump station construction; 5+ years of experience preferred, but will consider candidates with at least 2 years of directly relevant experience.
- Effective communicator possessing demonstrated skills in dealing with other staff, contractors, and the public, in matters arising from construction projects.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Working knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act and its Regulations, and Ontario Provincial Standards and Specifications (OPSS) for Municipal projects.
- Demonstrated skills in the use of computer utilizing programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, etc.), and Bluebeam.
- MTO Class 'G' driver's license in good standing and access to a personnel vehicle.
