
Release Engineer

- Design, maintain, and improve build, packaging, and deployment pipelines for product releases
- Collaborate with engineering, QA, and operations teams to define and enforce release management processes, schedules, and quality gates
- Ensure reproducible builds and artefacts through well-defined versioning, branching, and tagging strategies
- Develop and maintain tooling to automate release workflows, including test automation, packaging, and artefact distribution
- Monitor and optimise CI/CD performance, ensuring fast feedback loops and reliable automation
- Partner with security and compliance teams to ensure releases meet regulatory and security requirements
- Perform root-cause analysis of release-related issues and implement preventive measures
- Continuously evaluate and adopt new tools and technologies to improve release engineering efficiency and reliability
- BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience, plus 3+ years of relevant experience in release engineering,
- Strong understanding of CI/CD systems, and deployment automation
- Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (e.g., Go, Python, Bash, or JavaScript)
- Experience with modern build systems, artefact repositories, and containerisation (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Hands-on experience managing source control systems (e.g., GitHub, GitLab)
- Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to debug and resolve build, packaging, or deployment issues quickly
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for working in a distributed, async-first environment
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multiple teams and time zones
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and metrics for release pipelines
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Helm)
- Experience working in highly regulated environments (e.g., Department of Defense) and familiarity with applicable compliance/security standards (e.g., DISA STIGs, FedRAMP)
- Experience with release automation in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Understanding of secure software supply chain practices (e.g., signing, SBOMs, vulnerability scanning)
- Contributions to open-source projects or experience working in open-source communities
