- Maintaining National DWDM and SoNET Transport Networks.
- Assisting the Facilities group in the vendor repair of Direct Current rectifiers.
- Site maintenance routines include Direct Current plant battery assessment testing.
- Performing hardware and software installation and upgrades on DWDM and SoNET platforms.
- Using trouble-shooting techniques to resolve problems on Eastlink’s National network.
- Working with the NOC and engaging vendor support on network troubles, providing 3rd level support, including Optical Time Domain Reflection (OTDR) testing for Outside Plant outages.
- Working on special projects with other departments, including IT, Customer Solution Engineering, Transport, Data and Switch Engineering to help facilitate Eastlink’s growing network.
- Graduate of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or formal training in an Electronics/Electrical Program from a recognizable institution and/or relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in the Telecom sector.
- Knowledge of DWDM Networks is essential.
- Knowledge of SoNET Networks is essential.
- Experience with fiber OTDR methods is a benefit.
- Experience with DSX wiring, ISP fiber and Ethernet cabling is a benefit.
- Experience/training on a -48V DC Power system is a benefit.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP networks, operation systems such as UNIX, Linux, as well as fluency in Microsoft Office Suite and Windows is preferred.
- Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn and upgrade technical expertise.

- Ability to deal with internal peers and customers in a professional manner.
- Thorough Telecom technical understanding.
- Process Development Skills.
- Complete all assigned projects.
- Ensure all records are updated and/or corrected within our design archives.
- Ensure all notifications and Planned Work Activities are updated and sent to the NOC.
- Timely restoration of outages.
- Work with Engineering on moves, additions, grooming, and network build out.
- Responsibilities are regular 40-hour week in the office during daytime shift.
- National and International travel may be required for network repair and project completion.
- Responsibilities also include working overtime and doing shift work as required.
- Participation in the after-hours On Call rotation as required.
- A valid driver’s license and be bondable (pass security clearance check by police).
