Closing Date: April 22, 2026Position SummaryThe Occupational Therapist (OT) is an integral member of the Occupational Therapy service, Allied Health and clinical programs in which care is provided. Through assessment, treatment, evaluation and consultation, the OT prevents, alleviates or minimizes dysfunction, enabling clients to achieve their maximum level of functional independence and facilitating their integration into the home, community and workplace.Duties
- Deliver evidence-informed and high quality patient-centered occupational therapy services tailored to each patient's goals and functional abilities to promote independence in activities of daily living (ADLs) such as grooming, dressing, feeding, and toileting
- Provide assessment and equipment recommendations for home access and work environments to support safe and independent living
- Provide education / health teaching to patients, their families, students and interdisciplinary team members to promote recover and manage preventable complications
- Communicate and collaborate regularly with members of the inter-professional team regarding discharge planning and return to community living
- Participate in daily huddles, weekly interdisciplinary rounds, meetings, committees and quality initiatives within the Department and relevant Programs/Services
- Supports the development and implementation of best practice models of occupational therapy
- Completion of a Master's Degree in Science (Occupational Therapy) or recognized equivalent based on Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- Member of Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) and/or Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists (OSOT) is preferred
- Experience with spinal cord injury, as well as seating and positioning is preferred
- MOCA certification is preferred
- ADP authorizer for seating and mobility devices preferred
- 2-5 years experience in a hospital setting
- Experience with psychosocial and physical health and related assessment and intervention skills addressing occupational performance
- Excellent interpersonal, time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrates strong and effective written, oral, and nonverbal communication skills
- Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job
