- Read and interpret contract drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs and volume calculations from first principles.
- Develop and maintain quantity logs and estimate back-up documentation suitable for construction handoff.
- Support or develop work breakdown structures aligned with construction sequencing.
- Input quantities, crews, equipment, and pricing into InEight (Hard Dollar).
- Develop crew build-ups, equipment spreads, and productivity rates as experience allows.
- Incorporate addendums, RFIs, and scope or design changes into active estimates.
- Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Coordinate with construction and project teams to validate estimating assumptions.
- Participate in site visits as required to support estimate accuracy.
- Assist with preparation of control budgets and estimate handoff to construction teams.
- Provide guidance or informal mentorship to junior team members as applicable.
- Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 1-7 years of experience in estimating, construction engineering, or cost control.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Demonstrated experience completing quantity take-offs (complexity aligned to experience level).
- Understanding of productivity-based estimating and construction sequencing as experience progresses.
- Experience using InEight / Hard Dollar or similar estimating software preferred.
- Strong proficiency with Excel and MS Office.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.
