Term of App't: Temporary, Full Time (30 hours per week) until June 2027Start date: September 8, 2025Reporting to: Associate Dean of Academic & Vocational ProgramsSalary:$47.83 – 56.75/hour, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement, with applicable wage increases occurring after every 1305 work hours. There is an opportunity for the successful candidate to opt into the College Pension Plan with contributions being met by the employer. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay. The period between Christmas and New Year's Day is unpaid time.Description:NLC's Career and College Preparation program requires an instructor to deliver study blocks at the Halfway River First Nation Learning Centre. The courses will cover the Adult Basic Education curriculum at the Grade 8 – 11 level.This is a two-year appointment, running from September through June each year, with July and August off. The weekly class schedule is Monday to Thursday, 12:00 – 4:00 pm and 5:00 – 7:00 pm, with the balance of the hours allocated to other instructional and program-related duties. Fridays are designated for prep hours.Training will take place in Fort St. John, September 8 – 19, 2025.Qualifications:Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Education, First Nations Studies, or related discipline).
  • Willingness to participate in Halfway River First Nation cultural events.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Intermediate proficiency with a current version of MS Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student motivation and success.
  • Residing in the community.
  • Valid Class 7 driver's license.
Preferred:
  • Extensive experience working in or with local Indigenous communities, or in-depth knowledge of local Indigenous traditional practices.
  • Instructional experience at the secondary or post-secondary level.
  • Credential in Adult Education, such as the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program (completed or in progress).
  • Experience teaching culturally diverse groups of students, including Indigenous students.
