How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?The main object and purpose of this position consist in controlling the quality of the various Specialty Gas products offered by ALC. The incumbent is also responsible for the maintenance of the plant analyzers and the planning of analyses in order to respect the required shipping deadlines, while promoting ALC’s quality and safety objectives.Performs gas analyses: Uses gas chromatography to analyze gas mixtures and pure gases in order to ensure the control of the quality of the products. Issues and signs analysis certificates for the Production Coordinator and gives them to the customers. Coordinates the analyses in keeping with the deadlines established by the Production Coordinator.Ensures the good functioning of the equipment: Ensures the good functioning of laboratory instruments and the analyzers by checking all of their parameters. Ensures that the instruments are valid, in good operating condition and that the parameters are controlled. Repairs the instruments, inasmuch as possible, if they are broken. Makes sure that the Production Operators use equipment that comply with standards and that the scales, pressure gauges and other instruments are calibrated in keeping with ALC’s specifications.Develops analytical methods: Develops analytical methods and evaluates the feasibility of the mixtures requested. Conducts experiments to verify if it is possible to manufacture and analyze new products.Quality/Safety: Is in charge of the safety of the laboratory. Makes sure that the work area is clean and follows procedures for handling cylinders of Compressed Gas. Promotes ALC’s safety and quality objectives. Knows and respects the procedures as indicated in the ALC Quality Manual. Ensures that appropriate corrective and preventive measures are implemented so as to deal with customer claims.Process improvement: Ensures that procedures are implemented. Works with his/her team and other cross-functional teams to continuously improve work processes.
