Applies mathematical and engineering principles and methods to designs.Nationality RequirementsCandidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.Job DescriptionThe Electrical Engineer II will work as part of a multi-disciplinary project team developing new and innovative electronics solutions to meet customer needs. The Electrical Engineer II may work in a number of specialist areas including low noise preamps, high speed digital telemetry, digital signal processing, and RF design.Design, implement, maintain configuration management and test maintainable hardware and firmware systems in accordance with the company’s procedure and project specific requirements.Preparing or reviewing typical design documentation (design requirements, schematics, board layouts, technical specifications, and data sheets)Troubleshooting both PCBs and systems using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.Preparing or review engineering deliverables for existing and new electrical system design modifications/upgrades/replacementsPreparing cost estimates or cooperating appropriately with others responsible for reporting the estimate.Apply independent diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practicesProvide coaching and guidance to and check work of junior engineers, technologists or techniciansOther tasks as assignedRequired Skills:Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with 3+ years of experienceAbility to work on Canadian Controlled Goods and US ITAR controlled articlesCandidate must be capable of acquiring a NATO Reliability and Secret security clearanceDesired Skills:Experience with Underwater AcousticsElectrical/Electronic Engineering (
3 years) commercial or military type electronics desirableFamiliarity with electronic lab equipmentExperience with project managementExperience of Maritime Domain (desirable)Experience of Underwater Warfare Domain (desirable)Analog and digital designEmbedded microcontroller design (ARM-based microcontrollers or DSP-based systems)Experience with peripherals such as SPI, I2C, UART, etc.OrCAD Capture, Pspice, and PCB designerC language programming for embedded systemsFPGA design using VHDLNetwork communication - Fiber Optic Ethernet ATM SONETA team-oriented individual that works collaboratively to achieve team goalsStrong communication skills and a positive attitude, with capability to mentor othersMust be self-motivated, adaptable, and attentive to detailsWilling to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a deadline-oriented environmentFamiliar with formal project design process and documentationWillingness to travel within Canada, US and OverseasTypically, a Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in a related field and 2+ years of related experience or a recognized apprenticeship.
