
Security Systems Inspection and Maintenance Technician

- Tests and maintains a wide variety of security systems. The colleague is a key interface for the provision of technical support and training for the customer and, as such, is responsible for maximizing customer satisfaction. Assignments are of a general nature and may require a good level of ingenuity and skill.
- Reads blueprints, schematics, manuals and other specifications to determine maintenance requirements; Interprets manuals, schematics and wiring diagrams, using knowledge of electronics and advanced test instruments and hand tools.
- Performs all work in accordance with provincial and local regulations, general best practices, and company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate proper operation of systems and equipment, analyze performance and identify malfunctions.
- Consults with supervisor and/or technical staff to resolve unusual problems in system operation and maintenance.
- Advise supervisor on customer satisfaction, product performance, installation techniques and standards, and suggestions for product improvement.
- Carries out all technical aspects of maintenance contracts, including preparation of documentation such as inspection reports, maintenance reports, as-built drawings, etc.
- Identifies potential risks, communicates with appropriate parties and assists in the development and implementation of strategies to minimize impact and control variances from estimated costs.
- Works closely with the department manager, and assists with coordination; makes recommendations regarding quality of work and potential changes, and identifies ways to continually improve customer satisfaction.
- Communicates and works with other team members in a cohesive manner to improve the overall operations of the Convergint Technology Center and the company.
- Exceptional customer focus; ability to maintain consistency and seek to meet customer needs and wants without prompting.
- Must be autonomous and work well without direct supervision.
- Good skills in electronics and related tools (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, wire strippers, multimeter) and ability to read blueprints and drawings.
- Visits to construction sites may be required.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office applications.
- Degree in electronics an asset.
- Relevant work experience an asset.
- Valid driver's license.
- CCQ Certification is optional.

- Minimum of one year of previous relevant experience in the security field.
