· Paid recertification and training.What qualifications are we looking for?At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidates will have the following;· Experience volunteering or working with children in a recreation setting;· Previous climbing experience preferred;· Strong communication and teamwork skills;· Valid climbing instructor certificate (ACCT and/or ACMG level 1 or higher), OR successful completion of YMCA-hosted ACCT level 1 or 2 certification workshop within 30 days of hire· Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certified within 12 months· Evidence of a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search within 12 months· Available evenings and weekends from June 10 to June 23, 2024 for training· Available from July through August, weekdaysWhat does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?Duties and Responsibilities include;· Provide a fun, safe, and healthy environment for children registered in YMCA Calgary Day Camps· Provide proactive supervision and facilitate daily activities· Work alongside camp counselors and staff when executing activities and lesson plans· Record and report daily/weekly summary of activities to supervisor· Assist with general camp activities when not in specialty area like sign-in/sign-out· Implement and execute daily lesson plans· Lead climb related activities and learning opportunities outside of climbing wall such as rope skills, off-wall physical literacy, and technique instruction· Maintain a safe environment by following policies & procedures to manage risks associated with activities on the Climbing Wall· Demonstrate and role model positive behavior when working with other staff, campers and members· Follow YMCA Calgary Policies and Procedures· Provide first aid when required· Greet parents/guardians and campers on arrival and departure from camp.
