The City of Edmonton's Parks and Urban Forestry Section is looking for an Operations Analyst II to join the Operations Performance and Analytics team. In this role, you will be a key subject matter and technical expert, leading complex projects that create user-friendly tools and processes to increase planning efficiency and operational effectiveness. Your work will be crucial in ensuring that operational resources are tracked and accurately reported, which helps to boost effective communication with Edmonton residents about the services we provide. This position is an exciting opportunity to lead and mentor a team, influence key decisions, and contribute to the ongoing success of our city's parks and urban spaces.What will you do?Supervise an analytics team that provides efficient and effective data, financial, administrative, and technical operational servicesLead complex process initiatives and continuous improvement projects to support service delivery and system modernizationsDesign, implement, and maintain user-friendly resourcing tools that allow for forecasting, trend analysis, and real-time resource reallocationLead internal and external benchmarking initiatives and drive the development of annual reporting improvementsConsult with diverse collaboration groups, including leadership, internal business areas, and external partners, to understand data governance, policies, and processesProvide meaningful recommendations that influence decision-making related to budget allocations, funding, and changes to field operationsOversee the Parks and Urban Forestry SAP Plant Maintenance and Material Management modules, as well as the SAP CRM notification processesPerform other related duties as requiredQualificationsUniversity degree in computer science, engineering, business administration, statistics, mathematics, commerce, or a related discipline; equivalent education and training may be consideredA minimum of four (4) years of directly related work experience in data analysis, reporting, performance management, planning and project managementA minimum of four (4) years of hands-on experience with SAP Plant MaintenanceExperience working with large, complex, and/or unstructured data, performing statistical analysis, data visualization, and using data cleansing tools and techniques is requiredExperience in the development of business performance measurement tools and strategiesAssets:Considerable knowledge of simulation, modeling, operations research, and statistical techniquesCross-functional skills in SAP Customer Relationship Management, Materials Management, and Plant MaintenanceExperience with Business Intelligence and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Google Looker, Google AppSheet, etc.)Considerable knowledge of the principles of supervision, organization, administration, and work delegationSkills required for success:Business knowledge combined with well-developed skills in business analysis practicesKnowledge of business process modeling and implementation, performance measurement, and reporting toolsStrategic thinking, decision-making, and the ability to assess risksStrong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize large amounts of complex dataExcellent computer skills and the ability to learn, utilize, and update various databases, programs, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP and SAP S/4HANAStrong organizational, professional business communication (verbal and written), and time management skillsAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a teamAbility to use time effectively and efficiently and manage multiple projects and priorities with competing deadlinesAlignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies ( )Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusionConditions of Employment:Ability to lift up to 10 lbs occasionallyRequired to sit constantly and stand/walk frequentlyMay be required to wear safety footwearApplicants may be testedWork EnvironmentThis position primarily works indoors, with rare outdoor work.
