- Partner with the business to assess short and long-term business needs of the business units and provide strategic HR direction to meet their operational business requirements.
- Support leaders with their management of front-line drivers and other employee groups
- Consult with business stakeholders on an ongoing basis to determine evolving human resource requirements and assist with the development and implementation of responsive, effective and value-added human resource strategies.
- Provides input on business restructuring, workforce planning and succession planning.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, corrective actions).
- Uses judgement supported by human resource acumen and practical experience to escalate matters as required
- Provide leadership, guidance and the development to other HR team members
- Provide oversight to HR on payroll management, maintains and reports on payroll trends
- Work closely with all Leaders on performance management, investigations, corrective action, training & development, labour relations strategies, employee relations matters and supporting a strong employee experience
- Provide advice on human resource policies, procedures, and documentation; research, identifies, and analyzes specific employee relations concerns and makes appropriate recommendations to the business partner.
- Provide expertise on HR best practices to guide business stakeholders on matters such as performance management, human rights, employment standards and other labour legislation.
- Explore and determine innovative and creative approaches to resolving employee issues.
- Provides positive reinforcement and administers corrective action for the professional development of poor performers by closely monitoring employee performance.
- Facilitates communication and conflict resolution including conducting internal employee investigations.
- Lead and manage all HR functions within a unionized facility, ensuring alignment with collective agreements and employment legislation while fostering collaborative labour relations, managing grievances, arbitrations, and collective bargaining preparation.
- Ensure compliance with employment standards, human rights legislation, and internal policies.
- Partner with legal counsel and external consultants as needed for labour and employment matters.
- Maintains an in-depth knowledge of current legislation relating to employment law, WSIB, Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code and any Collective Bargaining Agreements in place to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Provide support and consultation to the teams around applicable laws, ensuring that all brands managed under under Transdev Manitoba remains legally compliant in its people practices.
- Foster and build relationships with key operational leaders by implementing a clear understanding of employee experience programs and initiatives.
- Support Employee experience initiatives under the direction of the VP Human Resource along with other projects and day to day support.
- Proactively identify and address labour issues to maintain a productive and respectful workplace culture.
- You have a Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or a related field
- You have 3+ years of experience in Human Resources Manager or Business Partner role, ideally in a related industry
- You have minimum 3+ years experience working in a unionized environment
- You bring demonstrated success in labour relations, including grievance handling, investigations, and participation in collective bargaining.
- You posses CHRP or CHRL certification
- You possess a Clean Criminal Record Search and Drivers Abstract
- You are strategic, have a strong professional presence, and possess strong planning and organization skills
- You have the ability to interact with all levels of the organization with consultative, partnering, facilitating, and influencing/negotiating skills
- You have strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to build trust with union leadership and internal stakeholders.
- You demonstrate commitment to strong integrity with ability to maintain confidentiality and ability to manage sensitive information
- You are highly motivated and a self-starter with ability to manage multiple priorities
- Complete proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other common applications
- You have an in-depth knowledge of current legislations relating to employment standards to the capacity of providing counsel including but not exclusive of: Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workers' Compensation Act, Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, etc.
- You are available to travel to other facilities on a regular basis
