Lockheed Martin takes advantage of advanced engineering practices and modern technologies to design, develop and integrate systems for naval warships.The Radio Detection And Ranging (RADAR) and Electronic Warfare (EW) technical team is responsible for a product's entire engineering lifecycle ranging from concept, design, development, and production. Customer requirements form the foundation of the design which guides all engineering solutions and product elements. Initial design efforts are based on Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) which provide the necessary details required by all engineering teams (hardware, software, electrical, etc.) Technically, the systems engineer is responsible for the total product development including, but not limited to, concepts, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. The systems engineer supports the program office ensuring logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into a total systems solutions under technical, schedule and cost constraints.This embedded systems engineering senior position falls under the guidance and mentorship of the lead systems engineer and/or technical director.The candidate will participate in engineering activities including, but not limited to:
  • Analyze customer requirements and derive requirements applicable to Field Programable Gate Array (FPGA) designs as Intellectual Property (IP) cores
  • Collaborate on system design activities with the lead systems engineer and other engineering staff such as hardware or software
  • Apply MBSE to capture RADAR and EW system/subsystem design elements from a logical and physical perspective
  • Define and track technical performance measures (TPM) correlated to requirements
  • Conduct trade studies for real-time embedded systems
  • Coordinate and/or support internal and customer technical reviewsProduce engineering documentation supporting the design of RADAR and EW systems/sub-systems
  • Support various engineering disciplines in applying the design
What you bring to the roleThe following skills, qualifications, and experience are required for this position:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field; or three years of professional experience with a related master's degree
  • Five or more years work experience with embedded real-time systems
  • Designing and developing Intellectual Property (IP) cores for FPGAs
  • Knowledge in RADAR and EW systems or subsystems
  • Develop and implement interface specifications at physical and application layers
  • Setup and use test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
  • Proficient using and configuring a Linux operating environment and development environment (including version control system)
  • Eligible to obtain North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secret clearance in a timely manner
  • Ability to work onsite at the Lockheed Martin Kanata facility
