Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership and Supervision
  • Lead, direct, supervise, and motivate a team of security officers, ensuring all responsibilities are carried out effectively and professionally in accordance with Client's SOPs.
  • Assign tasks and patrol responsibilities to maintain full site coverage as needed per specifications on-the-floor and compliance with site-specific guidelines.
  • Monitor work performance levels, provide coaching as needed, and ensure safety and best practices are followed.
  • During all interactions with the public, ensure the safety and security of both security personnel and the public. Remain mindful of public perceptions and the risk of being filmed by the public.
  • Exercise sound problem-solving and decision-making in day-to-day operations.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Control Centre throughout the day to stay aligned on site activity.
  • Respond to and manage all incidents and emergencies across the site in coordination with appropriate personnel and services.
  • Conduct routine team meetings to share Guardteck and Client updates, review challenges, engage in critical incident debriefs, reinforce standards, and ensure that team members are communicating amongst themselves.
  • Provide mentorship to new and existing team members, tracking their performance progress and addressing deficiencies.
  • Collaborate with Guardteck security personnel to ensure all trainees receive complete training on key handling and full keyset usage.
Security Operations and Incident Management
  • Work with the Control Centre to assign and direct security officers on the floor to ensure full coverage.
  • Oversee the execution of all daily on-the-floor security operations in consultation with Control Centre personnel.
  • Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, or breaches to safeguard individuals and property.
  • Liaise with law enforcement, emergency responders, and site management during critical incidents.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of incident reports and follow up on action items.
Training Security officers
  • Assist with onboarding and orientation of new security personnel, ensuring they are trained in site-specific protocols, emergency procedures, and equipment use.
  • Conduct hands-on training and provide continuous coaching to maintain high performance and standards.
  • Identify skill gaps and recommend training or professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure all training records and documentation are completed within 24 hours of training shifts.
Administrative and Compliance Responsibilities
  • Oversee and conduct uniform inspections, safety vest condition audits, and transportation voucher tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, procedural, and safety requirements.
  • Review and audit reports for accuracy and completeness, including daily logs and surveillance documentation.
  • Lead preliminary investigations into suspicious activities, criminal code events such as break and enters, assaults, harassment, or policy violations, and escalate findings appropriately.
  • Assign security officers as required to meet operational needs.
  • In collaboration with the Guardteck assistant account manager, track staff book offs to determine employee engagement, wellness, and stress management.
Customer Service and Communication
  • Serve as the on-floor point of contact for staff, contractors, tenants, and visitors regarding security matters.
  • Foster effective communication between the security team and other departments to support smooth operations.
  • Deliver professional, approachable customer service while enforcing security protocols.
  • Maintain a professional tone in all inter-staff communications and interactions.
Essential Job Functions
  • Ensure issues and tenant and customer interactions are reported to security management for response and follow-up.
  • Ensure security officers are engaged in assigned tasks and model teamwork and fairness in all interactions.
  • Balance administrative duties with floor leadership to effectively support the team.
  • Audit subordinate staff reports for relevance, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Respond to emails and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support team members with problem resolution and operational needs.
  • Ensure all services align with Guardteck’s Code of Ethics and Policies and Procedures.
  • Provide constructive feedback to the assistant account manager regarding staff and site-related matters.
  • Maintain and support Guardteck's Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Program, including WCB incident and near-miss reporting.
  • Identify high-performing employees, including their potential 2IC, and coach them to act as their replacement when required.
