The Floater role exists to provide coverage for short and long-term absences within production by working across multiple areas of the Tubing Department. This position plays a critical role in maintaining production flow while meeting Cameco's high standards for safety, quality, and operational excellence.Position and ResponsibilitiesLocated at the Cobourg plant and reporting to the Tubing Supervisor, the position typically involves the following activities:
  • Providing production coverage across multiple areas including the Pilger Hall, Finishing, and, as required, Reactor Components
  • Operating and performing routine preventive maintenance on cold pilgering and finishing equipment
  • Performing tooling changes, equipment set-ups, and basic troubleshooting to minimize production disruption
  • Completing in-process product and process inspections and making decisions based on inspection results within the pilger and finishing areas
  • Packaging export tubing
  • Washing tubing, loading and unloading furnaces, and supporting finishing operations as required
  • Performing waste treatment tasks including batching and mixing chemicals and removing waste
  • Utilizing knowledge of policies and procedures to independently resolve operational issues
  • Recording production information and notes in electronic systems
  • Working safely in accordance with operating procedures and Cameco policies
  • Maintaining flexibility with hours to support operational needs
  • These positions are expected to work 12-hour continental shifts
Education and Qualifications
  • High School diploma
  • Two to three years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial equipment operation
  • Ability to qualify on multiple jobs and adapt quickly to different work areas
Assets
  • Experience working with mechanical equipment, tooling changes, or preventive maintenance
  • Strong safety awareness and ability to work independently and as part of a team
