Your Opportunity:This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the Edmonton Zone Virtual Home Hospital (EZVHH) team using innovative health care for complex problem solving. EZVHH uses the ever-evolving power of technology to enable patients to leave or avoid the hospital and receive quality care in the comforts of their own home. Currently, EZVHH has 45 Medicine Beds and 30 Surgical Beds; the team focuses on virtual adult acute med/surg inpatient care. To provide quality care the team of multidisciplinary professionals monitor patients virtually in collaboration with primary care providers, specialists, the mobile integrated health team, and homecare while involving patients and caregivers in shared decision making as members of the care team. The EZVHH has unique pathways that help provide the necessary health care services to the ever-changing needs of Albertans: preventing emergency visits, hospital admissions and supporting early discharges home. Reporting to the Patient Care Manager for EZVHH, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a self-directed health care provider who works collaboratively with EZVHH physicians and the AHS interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and care planning for patients with a variety of complex acute medical conditions and surgical needs. All duties and responsibilities of the Nurse Practitioner will follow the guidelines developed by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta.Description:As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Required Qualifications:Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master's degree. Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:Alberta Heart and Stroke CPR (Basic Rescuer). Computer literacy skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Preferred Qualifications:Previous nursing experience working with complex adult medicine patients is an asset. ACLS, BCLS, BTLS optional. EMR/Connect Care experience is an asset. Three to five years of experience as an NP in an acute General Surgery and or Intensive Care environment is an asset.
