- Graduate of an approved Practical Nursing School Program and hold a current Manitoba License
- Previous experience in a Long Term Care facility is preferred
- Experience in Psycho-geratic experience preferred
- Works well independently
- Current Criminal Record and Adult Abuse Registry checks
- Provision and coordination of all aspects of nursing care. May act as facility charge nurse in the absence of a registered nurse in the building.
- Delegation, direction, supervision and evaluation related to care provided by Health Care Aides.
- Complete admission and ongoing assessments of residents.
- Accurate, informative and ongoing documentation related to resident care and condition.
- Ongoing documentation and communication related to care planning.
- Participation in care conferences, drug reviews and physicians’ rounds.
- Accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions.
- Identifies own limitations related to competencies and seeks direction and/or consultation when necessary.
- Orientation of new employees as required.
- Supervises students as required.
- Familiar with responsibilities related to fire, safety and emergency procedures.
- Maintaining ongoing professional development.
- Engages in self-performance appraisal regularly, identifying areas of strength as well as areas for professional practice/development.
- Maintains necessary clinical skills through continuing education and direct clinical practice
- Maintains current licensure
- Participates in FDL in-services and staff meetings
