  • Collaborate with key members of the OHS Department, subject matter experts, and employees in operations.
  • Participate in HSE team meetings to understand the OHS Department's operations at CRH and identify opportunities for skill development.
  • Support site supervision in implementing and managing the health and safety management system.
  • Work closely with the OHS Department on developing site-specific safe work practices, procedures, and hazard assessments.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled health and safety inspections of the workplace and document/post these inspections in visible locations on the job site.
  • Follow up on all corrective actions noted during ongoing workplace inspections.
  • Maintain statistics and records, and monitor accident/incident frequencies and safety
Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in a university or college in one of the following or relevant programs: Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, Certificate in Environmental Management, or a degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Sciences.
  • Valid G-Drivers License
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office, especially Excel and SharePoint (e.g., pivot tables, macros).
  • Regular, reliable attendance.
  • Ability to work productively and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Effective and professional communication and interaction with supervisors, employees, and others, both individually and in a team environment.
  • Ability to perform work safely and effectively, and understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
