CLOSING DATE: April 22, 2026 @ 11:59pm MSTReporting to the Director, Campus Services, the Manager, Facilities Operations & Maintenance provides effective leadership and oversight to the Facilities Operations & Maintenance team through a combination of tactical execution and long-term strategic planning. The Manager is responsible for ensuring that all campus environments remain safe, clean, welcoming, and fully operational.HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
- Lead, coach, and manage a team of four staff while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented culture.
- Oversee major service contracts, including Property Management and Custodial Services, ensuring strong performance and value.
- Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, etc.) in partnership with contractors.
- Maintain high standards of campus cleanliness, safety, and appearance through effective custodial and grounds management.
- Lead energy and utility management initiatives to optimize usage, reduce costs, and support sustainability goals.
- Manage a multi-million-dollar operations budget, including forecasting, procurement support, and financial oversight.
- Oversee contract lifecycle management (RFPs to administration) and ensure quality service delivery from all vendors.
- Direct logistics, fleet, materials management, and emergency operations participation to support overall campus functionality.
- Related degree from a recognized university in a related field of study (ex. engineering, science, facilities management); or a two-year related technical diploma supplemented with relevant professional development and progressively responsible practical and supervisory experience.
- Asset: Certification from an accredited professional association such as APEGA (P.Eng.), ASET (Certified Engineering Technologist), BOMA (RPA/FMA), or IFMA (FMP/CFM), journeyman certification in a building systems related trade, Power Engineering accreditation, LEED and PMP accreditation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with direct reports through regular communication, team meetings, and full performance management cycles.
- Collaborate closely with Campus Services teams to ensure alignment, efficiency, and compliance across business units.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to align operations and procurement with institutional priorities and best practices.
- Oversee and maintain strong working relationships with contracted service providers, ensuring contract compliance and performance.
- Represent the institution externally through industry engagement, networking, and participation in professional forums.
- Proactively manage conflict and protect institutional reputation through ethical decision-making and transparent practices.
- Operate with a high degree of independence, making informed decisions on operations, resources, and priorities within policies and budgets.
- Respond decisively to complex, urgent, or after-hours situations, driving continuous improvement, managing risk, and ensuring safety and operational continuity.
