
Heavy Duty Equipment Technician

- Conduct safe and efficient mechanical repair and maintenance of roadway equipment
- Inspect, repair, and test a wide range of machinery, including production tie and rail machines, spikers, spike pullers, ballast regulators, speed swings, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, tie cranes, and tie inserters
- Utilize manual, electric, and hydraulic tools, alongside welders and cutting torches, to perform and verify maintenance tasks and repairs
- Investigate and diagnose equipment issues, taking swift corrective action to minimize downtime and production disruptions
- Plan, organize, and coordinate work within a collaborative team setting
- Maintain and submit accurate equipment maintenance records, timesheets, and documentation
- High school diploma or general equivalency
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Formal Technical education for Diesel or Heavy-Duty Mechanics and/or at least 3 years' experience in Heavy Duty or Diesel mechanics is preferred
- Valid driver's license
- Experience with troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic systems (electric over hydraulic and air over hydraulic)
- Proficient knowledge of welding, operation, and maintenance of work and roadway equipment
