Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, the incumbent will provide critical surveying support to mining operations, reclamation activities and surface maintenance groups in a fast paced environment. - Provide day-to-day survey support for open pit mining and reclamation work
- Perform field surveys related to pits, waste rock storage areas, tailing facilities, roads and reclaimed landforms.
- Conduct pit and reclamation pickups as-builts and volume calculations.
- Verifying the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations.
- Assist with setups, calibration and operation of survey equipment (total stations, drone surveys and 3D scanners)
- Accurately record and manage field data
- Work closely with Mine Operations, Technical Services and Reclamation teams
- Perform other mine site-based survey requests as required.
- Adhere to site safety standards and actively contribute to a strong safety culture.
- Successful completion of four semesters in Geomatics, Mining or Civil Engineering;
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in open pit surveying or a surface mine environment;
- Experience using mining software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Deswik).
- Experience with Total Stations, GPS equipment, Survey Drones, Laser Scanners)
- Intermediate computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently, think proactively and plan your own job (time & task management);
- Ability to work under pressure;
- Ability to share information verbally and in writing with different teams; with
- A proven commitment to zero harm to people, environment and equipment.
