Apply today to speak to a Talent Acquisition Advisor!Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Wheelchair/Rehabilitation Technician to join the team working across Vancouver General Hospital and UBC Hospital in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!As a Wheelchair/Rehabilitation Technician with VCH you will:
  • Set up, produce and adapt assistive devices, wheelchairs and seating systems to enable clients to achieve and maintain maximum potential for independence.
  • Perform maintenance duties on wheelchairs and assistive technology devices as required.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies, equipment, tools, wheelchairs, specialized mattresses, and seating components and arranges for maintenance and/or repair of equipment as necessary.
  • Utilize various computer programs to facilitate ordering equipment, record keeping and communication.
  • Under the direction of an Occupational Therapist, instruct staff, residents, family members and volunteers on the proper functioning of wheelchair and assistive device equipment, and report relevant observations of resident’s progress to the Occupational Therapist.
  • Under the direction of an Occupational Therapist, will carry out an intervention plan related to the provision of wheeled mobility and seating.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
  • Grade 10, plus four (4) years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
