Requisition ID: 196751Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.The Director provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight for the communications plans and delivery for the group head of Global Human Resources (GHR) and key enterprise HR initiatives, including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), while ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.Is this the right role for you? In this role you will:Lead and drive a customer and employee-focused culture throughout the team to deepen trust, engagement, and an understanding of the Bank's strategic priorities for Scotiabank employees.Work as a strategic and collaborative relationship manager to the Group Head and chief Human Resources Officer in driving internal and external leader communications and thought-leadership opportunities to enhance the impact of communications to:Support business objectives;Promote the Bank's brand to future talent and manage external reputational issues relating to employees;Enhance employee engagement within these groups and across the Bank;Promote two-way, timely, honest, relevant, and concise communications approach and assess communications effectiveness through research and measurement; and,Support project teams and key partners in the communication of critical messages related to the successful execution of the CHRO's strategic priorities to the employee population.Lead and design creative, robust internal and external communications plans for key enterprise GHR and DEI initiatives:Deliver thoughtful executive communications in support of business programs and initiatives that enhance the profile of the Bank with key stakeholders;Communicate the functional strategy and the ongoing execution of the strategy to employees and key partner groups, as well as to the senior team;Provide overall strategic employee communications including bank-wide program rollouts, announcements, and team-specific engagement.Manage any employee-related issues that may arise.Seek out proactive external media opportunitiesOversee and lead the development of Bank-wide internal communications plans and events to deliver on key strategic priorities for the Bank in areas including but not limited to: DEI, employee mental and physical health; and recruitment and retention.Direct day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank's risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank's risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.Create an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vision/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:Minimum 10-12 years of progressive work experience within a financial services organization, or large, complex institutionLeadership experience in a corporate communications role, preferably in a financial services (or regulated) environment.Proven ability to work both independently and within a team environment.The incumbent must be diplomatic, and flexible, with a positive, mature attitude, and the ability to remain calm under pressure and to deliver under tight timelines.Ability to be proactive and creative, with a strong, proven ability to plan and manage competing priorities, as well as the ability to recognize and appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.Proven leadership in coaching, mentoring, and directing people to deliver outstanding outcomesExpert communications consultant with a track record in counseling senior business leadersDemonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities with particular attention to connecting the dots for team and business partnersAbility to think strategically, anticipates trends and issues, and assembles plans and resources to respondMinimum undergraduate university degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Business, Marketing, or a related field. A post-graduate certificate in Public Relations is an asset.Experience in developing videos, online/digital communications, communications websites and graphic design is desirable.Verbal and written English communication skills including demonstrable creativity, accuracy and attention to detail.
