Description :Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, the Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of industrial equipment including Log Loaders, Forklifts and other mobile equipment used in the manufacture of Oriented Strand Board.You'll Do:
  • Complete tasks with safety being the primary focus while supporting quality and productivity.
  • Perform a variety of HD Mechanic tasks to ensure safe and efficient application of your knowledge and technical skills.
  • Key responsibilities involve the proactive and preventative maintenance of industrial equipment used in the manufacturing of OSB.
  • Ability to safely respond to equipment breakdowns, troubleshoot the issue and develop efficient and effective repair plans.
  • Timely communication with others to share critical information, ordering / receiving of parts, development of realistic timelines and keeping stakeholders updated on progress of equipment repairs.
  • Share your knowledge and experiences to help build upon our talented mobile shop.
You have:
  • Valid Heavy-Duty Mechanic Certification
  • 3+ Years of experience in an industrial / manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical and other mobile equipment elements
  • Ability to decipher manuals and schematics
  • Commitment to working safely and creating a safe work environment
  • Organizational and planning skills to prioritize daily / weekly tasks
  • Confidence to utilize computer programs as part of maintenance management systems, and exposure to Micro Soft Office including Excel & Outlook
  • Ability to safely work independently with limited supervision and also as part of a team.

Workplace Location:
  • This position will be located at our West Fraser Grande Prairie, Alberta OSB facility
  • The Heavy Duty Mechanic must be capable of working in an OSB manufacturing environment that includes exposure to noise, temperature variances, heights, stairways and grated elevated walkways, confined spaces, odors and the physical ability to travel through our industrial facility and lift / carry reasonable weights.
  • Although the work schedule is primarily Monday to Friday, flexibility is required to support our 24/7/365 manufacturing facility.
