Standard Machine offers the opportunity to develop unique skills in an environment that supports cross-training and personal development through diverse career paths.We are seeking Machinist(s) who are interested in gear cutting, turning, milling, and eager to learn and expand in the area of grinding.Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints and engineered drawings
Run variety of machines including lathes and mills when required
Understand tool limitations and controls during operation
Operate machines within tight tolerances and have a good knowledge of feeds and speeds
Measure precisely utilizing mic’s, calipers, bore gauges and hold tight tolerances
Operate travelling overhead crane up to 20 tonnes, and know rigging requirements
Inspect work according to ISO and Quality Assurance standards
Capable of working unsupervised on own machine.
Troubleshoot within area and on machines
Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment
Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures
Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures
Assist with continuous improvement projects under the direction of the team leader
Complete autonomous maintenance of equipment as per daily check lists
QualificationsEducation
Journeyman Machinist certificate is considered an asset, but not required
3rd/4th Year Apprentice
Years Experience can be measured for Equivalency
Competencies
Experience with large manual vertical lathes
Ability to run variety of manual and CNC machines: lathes, mills, grinders, slotters, gear cutting equipment, including hobbers and shapers
Commitment to providing outstanding service
Attention to detail with a focus on quality
Experience in a shop environment, preferably with custom ability
Ability to operate a crane with proper rigging techniques
