The role of the Senior Hydrogeologist is to perform tasks and project management assignments associated with environmental impact assessments; hydrogeological studies; phased environmental site assessments, including subsurface investigations, soil and groundwater remediation, and monitoring projects; sampling of soil, sediment, surface water, and groundwater; production of maps; data interpretation/evaluation; groundwater modeling (analytical and/or numerical) and deliverable preparation as well as business development activities.Your Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral ResponsibilitiesContribute to and lead business development activities, including proposals, pre-qualifications, and relationship building with clients and prospective clientsAssist in analyzing current and emerging technical issues, and implementing actions to proactively address market, business, regulatory, and/or economic issuesIdentify new business opportunities and support the technical component of business development materialsResponsible for planning and conducting assignments/projects having broad scope for independent accomplishment and coordination of difficult tasksProvide supervision, training, technical direction and mentoring to intermediate and junior level staffApply technical and business knowledge and methods to develop creative, effective, and economical solutions to address current and potential project issuesExecute specific technical tasks or requirements for medium to large projectsConduct peer reviews of work by colleagues or more junior practitionersQualify as a Quality Reviewer and undertake Quality Reviews of deliverablesConduct a wide variety of hydrogeological assessment and development projectsParticipate in Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all workAssignments/projects are advanced in nature and require the application of mature knowledgeDemonstrate sound understanding and application of established practices, standards and guidelinesProvide technical expertise and support hydrogeological designs, proposals, and reportsDevelop conceptual hydrogeological models to support field program designWork with multi-disciplinary teams on baseline and impact assessment projects, feasibility studies, groundwater and surface water assessments, groundwater compliance, contaminant investigations, environmental assessments and permitting projects, rehabilitation projects, etc.Design and oversee implementation of hydrogeology field programs, including drilling and logging of overburden and bedrock core, sampling of soil and bedrock, groundwater sampling, aquifer testing (pump testing, slug testing, packer testing)Experience with Leapfrog, Surfer, AQTESOLV, ModFlow, FEFLOW, MT3D, or other groundwater modeling software is an assetHydrogeology ResponsibilitiesProvide technical expertise and support hydrogeological designs, proposals, and reportsDevelop conceptual hydrogeological models to support field program designWork with multi-disciplinary teams on baseline and impact assessment projects, feasibility studies, groundwater and surface water assessments, groundwater compliance, contaminant investigations, environmental assessments and permitting projects, rehabilitation projects, etcDesign and oversee implementation of hydrogeology field programs, including drilling and logging of overburden and bedrock core, sampling of soil and bedrock, groundwater sampling, aquifer testing (pump testing, slug testing, packer testing)Experience with Leapfrog, Surfer, AQTESOLV, ModFlow, FEFLOW, MT3D, or other groundwater modeling software is an assetYour Capabilities and CredentialsPassionate about safety. Consistently demonstrate and promote policies and procedures for Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE)Advanced skills in technical writingProficient skills in communication and technical information exchange with clients, engineers and scientists, government regulators and agencies, and academia, as well as non-technical communication to the publicExperience mentoring and developing more junior staffExperience with groundwater or surface water modeling software is an assetDisciplined approach to project execution and technical excellenceAbility to provide written and verbal direction on project deliveryShow leadership in striving to continuously improve technical performanceChampion new ideas and initiatives, and create an environment that supports creativity and innovationBuild and maintain productive professional and personal networking relationshipsDrive collaborative efforts within the region and beyond to deliver consistent, high quality and appropriately scoped technical workEducation and ExperienceMaster’s degree in Geoscience, Engineering, or related field.Licensed Professional Engineer/Geologist.Minimum 10 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.At least four years of experience successfully executing technical aspects of medium to complex projects.Good driving record and valid driver’s license required.Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for periods of time.
