Operator Assistant - Asphalt Plant

- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the asphalt plant.
- Train to understand specific and technical understanding of different mix designs, aggregates AC oils and test results.
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment and electrical components of plants without compromising worker safety, the environment, or the quality of the asphalt product.
- Communicate with workers on and off the plant side on topics, including the operating efficiency of the plant, asphalt order quantities, and technical and mechanical issues.
- Coordinate, communicate and work with the Quality Control department, to ensure high quality production of asphalt products.
- Perform daily walk around inspections of the plant site, noting and addressing any issues.
- Keep track of outgoing trucks and asphalt production numbers and statistics.
- Completed daily records and plant reports, based on quantities of aggregates and AC usage.
- Clean out plant when asphalt quantity has been met for the day.
- Order asphalt oil, burner fuel and aggregates, according to job quantities and demands.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Class 5 Driver's License required.
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- Training in Confined Space Entry/Monitor, Aerial Lift and Fall Arrest preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in the operation of heavy equipment
- Basic mechanical ability an asset.
- Travel, as required.
- Overtime as required
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
- Must be physically able to work general labour
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry 50 LBS as needed
- Use of personal protection equipment is required
- Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements
