Project Title: AI Enabled Resident Wellness Assistant Integrated with Point Click CareRed Deer Polytechnic has secured funding from Alberta Innovates for fully funded student researchers for Summer 2026 (May – August). The Summer Research Studentships (SRS) program provides students with paid experiential learning opportunities at post-secondary institutes in Alberta, enhancing their interest and success in health research and innovation.Students will have the opportunity for skills development and networking through primary research activities, workshops, speaker series, career mentorship, and other events. The project requires the development of an AI enabled workflow that generates PointClickCare (PCC) ready clinical notes from structured daily resident interactions using Python based data pipelines, FastAPI microservices, and large language models. The system must support resident safety through scheduled wellness check ins, multimodal data capture, and AI-driven detection of early health changes. Additional requirements include building React based interfaces for staff and families, creating automated family summaries that merge kiosk data with PCC records, and delivering real time analytics dashboards for administrators powered by integrated AI and backend services.
