We are a fast-paced, innovation-driven prototype toolroom specializing in precision components, custom tooling, and low volume short-run production. Our team works closely with engineering and product development to bring new ideas to life quickly and accurately. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on variety, problem-solving, and tight-tolerance work. You will be responsible for building, modifying, and repairing precision tooling, fixtures, and prototype components.What You Will Do:
  • Manufacture precision parts, tooling, jigs, and fixtures from drawings, CAD models, or verbal instructions
  • Set up and operate manual and CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM as applicable)
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, and 3D models with a high degree of accuracy
  • Perform tight-tolerance machining (±0.0005" or better where required)
  • Assemble, troubleshoot, and refine prototype tooling and mechanical components
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to optimize manufacturability
  • Maintain equipment and ensure a clean, safe work environment
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, CMM, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of safety and providing a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Contribute to fostering a positive workplace culture and collaborative team environment.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Journey person Tool & Die Maker or General Machinist Red Seal certification or equivalent machining experience
  • 5+ years of experience in a prototype or machine shop environment preferred
  • Strong proficiency with manual machining; CNC experience is an asset
  • Ability to work independently from limited instructions
  • Solid understanding of GD&T and precision measurement techniques
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software is an asset
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Experience with surface grinding, wire EDM, or sinker EDM
  • Familiarity with materials such as tool steels, aluminium, stainless steel, and plastics
  • Ability to suggest design improvements for manufacturability
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, low-volume, high-mix environment
  • Knowledge of workplace safety regulations and a commitment to fostering a safe working environment.
