We are looking for an Engineering Technologist, Electrical to join our Plant Maintenance Department!What You Will DoIn the Engineering Technologist, Electrical role, you will provide technical support and design expertise in relation to electrical engineering work associated with the TTC's One Time Work Order (OTWO) projects. These projects involve repair, renovation and/or rehabilitation work on the TTC's building facilities, electrical systems and associated equipment. You will retrieve as built and existing site conditions, complete designs as directed by the engineer, prepare drawings and master specifications, and contribute to the production of complete design documents for construction.Other responsibilities of your role will include:
  • Prepare and review electrical designs and drawings and provide electrical engineering support to work associated with the TTC's electrical systems, facilities and associated equipment, such as power supply distribution systems, equipment protection systems, lighting systems, emergency systems, fire protection and automated building control systems.
  • Prepare detailed contract drawings using MicroStation CADD; develops conceptual, preliminary and final design drawings, utilizing established standards and procedures.
  • Draft and review technical, preliminary and predesign reports, and make recommendations.
  • Review designs and studies prepared by consultants for accuracy, completeness, maintainability, constructability and compliance with TTC standards and applicable codes.
  • Assist with project scheduling, budgeting and staffing requirements.
  • Conduct independent studies and analysis of products, equipment, systems and resolve design problems and construction issues by applying relevant engineering principles and standard practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of testing/commissioning procedures and participate in construction and field reviews / inspections.
  • Review updates to codes, standards and other legislation and establish new work methods and procedures; accordingly.
  • Participate in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?
  • Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (i.e. Electrical Engineering) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • OACETT certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, methods, procedures and practices applied to transit buildings/facilities, equipment and systems.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes, government regulations, safety regulations and procedures, legislation and standards.
  • Technical report writing skills combined with troubleshooting and basic technical design skills in the areas of electrical, industrial maintenance and construction.
  • Sound judgment; good organizational, critical thinking, problem solving, and effective oral communication skills.
  • Ability to apply project management concepts and practices.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, manage time effectively and efficiently and work well under pressure.
  • Must have a working knowledge of MicroStation CADD and be proficient with MS Office software and other engineering related applications.
