The purpose of this job is to fulfill the Unix & Storage Engineer position.
This is a hands-on Linux/Solaris & Storage (SAN, NAS) position where the individual will be responsible for overseeing and managing the design and implementation of Linux & Storage solutions. In addition, this engineer will be responsible for providing 2nd and 3rd level support for all Server & Storage issues or outages. Ensures the smooth operation of the infrastructure to provide maximum security, performance, and availability. Maintains close vendor relationships to support current technology solutions and provide roadmap strategies for all Unix & Storage systems.
The candidate also must be flexible to work in 24*7 environments.Responsibilities
  • Administration and diagnostic resolution of common maintenance and performance issues on Storage
  • Administer Disk Resources, support and manage replication of data, provide disaster recovery and business continuity support
  • Mid-level troubleshooting of common block / file protocols, NFS (Network Attached Storage), CIFS (Common Internet File System)
  • Evaluate performance, monitor workloads, and analyze results to ensure optimal operations
  • Maintain platform and procedural documentations
  • Assist in projects, including new installations, upgrades, retrofits, etc.
  • Vendor Coordination on asset management, arrange / perform replacements of common failure items.
  • Develop & maintain configuration management solutions, documentation.
  • Perform System Maintenance including patching scheduling & tracking the same; monitor system performance; maintain system security; create system backups
  • Asset Inventory maintaining; should be aware of Tenable Scan remediation
  • Participate in projects related to implementing Cyber Security tools and products
  • Perform other Linux/Unix & Storage tasks as assigned
  • Track and manage licenses status for renewal, upgrade, and compliance of all devices
  • Working knowledge of Simplivity
  • Resolve operational incident tickets (P1/P2/P3) or service request as per the agreed SLA
  • Follow the required policies and procedures for the incident, problem and change management
  • Overall Knowledge for SAN Storage, SAN Switches & NAS Storage
  • A strong knowledge of storage operational activities (zoning, masking, and mapping).
  • Knowledge of storage replication technologies such as HP3PAR Online Import/EMCCOPY.
  • Experienced with storage array performance analysis and array tuning.
  • Good understanding of the following Operating Systems: (Vmware, windows,Linux).
  • Good understanding of Antivirus technologies on SAN / NAS storage.
  • Administration and diagnostic resolution of common maintenance and performance issues on Storage
  • Knowledge on ITIL processes like Incident management, Problem Management and Change Management processes is must.
  • Excellent Knowledge of Storage and Backup Technologies like Tiering, Virtualization and De-duplication & Replication
  • Experience working in 24/7, high availability Data Center environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Knowledge of Virtualization like HP Simplivity
  • Familiar with METIS which is a tool to track requests & changes & CMDB(inventory) would be added advantage.
  • Should be involved in P1/P2 critical incidents.
  • Strong analytics skills
  • Prior financial services or other highly regulated industry experience
  • Strong working knowledge of server & storage infrastructure and how they are used to maintain a strong security posture
Qualifications we seek in you!
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Graduate or post graduate in any stream with course in Computers or IT stream
  • Added advantage if experience in Unix/Linux.
  • Basic understanding of IT infrastructure and Troubleshooting
