The PositionUnder the general direction of the Education Manager, the ECE Licensed Teacher provides Reggio-inspired child development and outdoor education programs for children aged 6 months to 5 years old. Our Reggio Emilia approach to education incorporates an inquiry-driven, play-based foundation and uses the child’s interests to direct our emergent curriculum. In addition, we provide a culturally rich learning experience that connects our children with our community and the rich natural landscapes that surround us.You will provide quality, inclusive childcare programming and supervision for young children in a group setting. Additionally, you will be responsible for guiding and instructing children in a variety of educational subjects and life skills. You will assist children in nurturing developmental and cognitive skills, including physical, mental, and social development.The Candidate:

Provide a daily balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group activities.
Establish and carry out a daily activity schedule that incorporates child-directed activity, care routines and transition times.
Ensuring the health and safety of all the children.
Ensure the Centre is meeting the required Federal/ provincial regulations and licensing requirements.
Ensures that the Group Care meets licensing, Reggio and Outdoor Education requirements.
Planning and implementing culturally and developmentally appropriate experiences.
Encouraging children’s development of positive self-concept or self-regulation.
Perform all other tasks within the scope of the position.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

Early Childcare Educator Certificate.
Valid ECE License – registered in BC – which must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as an ECE Teacher in a Childcare setting.
Knowledge and understanding of the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, Child Care Licensing Regulations.
Knowledge and understanding of the Reggio-inspired program and the Outdoor Education Program.
Knowledge and understanding of the development of children and their mental, physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs.
Valid C.P.R. and First Aid certificate; clear criminal record check with vulnerable sectors; Medical Clearance and Immunization Record on file.
