This position will report to a Project Engineer or Project Manager within the Water Sector team.Responsibilities & QualificationsDuties and Responsibilities
- Assist the project team in delivering projects, including the preparation of feasibility studies, functional plans, and preliminary and detailed design calculations, reports and drawings for water and wastewater infrastructure
- Assist with applying for and obtaining required permits and approvals to proceed with construction
- Perform engineering calculations and analyses for vertical water and wastewater projects such as pump stations, reservoirs, and treatment facilities
- Support design and analysis of linear infrastructure projects including water distribution and transmission systems, collection systems, watermain and sewer rehabilitation, and trenchless design
- Pump and forcemain sizing, hydraulic modeling, process piping layout and design, linear plan and profiles
- Condition assessment and asset management reporting
- Infrastructure optimization strategies
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously across different project phases
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
- Currently working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Willingness and ability to learn new software tools and apply them effectively
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to deliver high-quality results
- Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing
- Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or MicroStation is an asset
- Experience with ArcGIS is an asset
- Ability to learn approval processes, including local and provincial design guidelines and standards
- Ability to learn planning and Environmental Assessment (EA) processes
- High levels of integrity, consistently demonstrating ethical, fair, and sustainable decision-making
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within diverse and inclusive teams
- Ability to manage workload and meet tight deadlines
- Use of a personal vehicle is an asset
