
Senior Construction Engineer, Structural

- Attend the project site, full-time, during construction to review progress, and to verify and validate construction works are conforming to contract documents, specifications, and drawings.
- Implement established project verification procedures
- Liaise with contractors and client representatives
- Attend and lead internal and external meetings, as necessary
- Review and confirm contractor submitted shop drawings are in conformance to contract documents
- Coordinate quality assurance reviews with structural engineering team and with other Subject Matter Experts
- Prepare status reports, observation check lists, daily and weekly reports, and other quality documentation
- Collaboratively work with a team of construction professionals, engineers, and technologists to complete daily field observations and document system assurance items
- Mentor and oversee and train junior staff, as necessary
- Promote and oversee implementation of health and safety regulations
- Other duties as assigned.
- A minimum 5 years of experience on large bridge construction projects, preferably with advanced bridge construction methods involving bridge post-tensioning and segmental bridge construction.
- Knowledge and skill in interpreting and applying transportation construction practices; procedures and quality assurance techniques.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Laws and Regulations (Environmental, Health and Safety, etc.) and their application in construction contracts.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and schedule work.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Must have strong people skills and the ability to interact with the owner, design project manager, contractor project manager and/or superintendent, and members of the public.
- Be comfortable and be physically capable of working on construction sites at large heights.
- Valid G Driver’s License and ability to drive to site(s) with own vehicle.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field
- 10 years related experience in various aspects of construction including estimating, bidding, preparing purchase orders and subcontracts, scheduling, and field engineering
- Experience developing and managing construction engineering and inspection programs
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
