
Booking Clerk - Mother and Baby Follow up Clinic, PTT (J0725-0118)

Your role in this position is to book appointments and register patients for follow-up appointments in the Mother and Baby Follow-up Clinic. You will do this in a confidential, sensitive and professional manner. You have effective written and spoken communication skills, use your critical thinking and problem solving skills, and embrace the challenge of prioritizing work demands in a fast paced and stressful environment. This position supports the hospital's academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.On a practical level, you will
- Communicate with staff, patients, families, and internal and external parties. You will greet patients in a professional and pleasant manner upon registration to the hospital in order to collect and document relevant information.
- Accept, coordinate and triage telephone calls and inquiries and process them in an appropriate and timely manner
- Coordinate various interdepartmental activities and requests such as: update patient information; check patients in for their appointment; and direct patients and families to the designated waiting area.
- Assume responsibility for identifying and advancing issues and concerns with the Clinical Team Manager or Administrative Coordinator in a time sensitive manner.
- Compile and disseminate material/documents related to Program activity
- Process online orders, and notify appropriate staff and specific departments as required
- Book follow-up appointments using the Cerner scheduling application and enter information electronically as required
- Manage unit supplies, services and repair needs
- Grade XII diploma
- A medical office assistant certificate or minimum one year comparable office experience with medical orientation
- Accurate minimum typing speed of 45 w.p.m
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including; Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of Medical terminology
- Working knowledge and experience with Cerner registration and Cerner scheduling
